Have a wonderful half-term break
 
 
 
The headteacher appointment panel will be available to meet with parents at 2.30pm on Thursday 4th November.  If you have questions about the process of appointing a headteacher please come and meet the panel in the school hall.
 
Puffins make waves!
 
On Monday we made waves in a jar in Science, using water mixed with food colouring and oil. We observed that water has a greater density than oil which means it is heavier, so the oil rose to the surface of the water. We had to make sure our jars were really full so we could make waves and there were no air bubbles! Some of us included shells in our wave jars to make them look more like the sea.
 
Breakfast club
 
Sport 4 Kids have offered to run a breakfast club at The Royal School, please can you inform the office if this is a service of interest or benefit to your family.
 Covid-19
 
Below is a letter for all parents of children in RBWM schools.  Please click to download a copy.
 
We have had a high number of positive covid cases throughout the school and our wider community.  We encourage all parents to have two lateral flow tests in the days leading up to the return to school.  This will help to identify anyone who has non-symptomatic covid that can be spread to others. 
 
If your child has a positive covid test over the term break please email the school office with the date of the test and when symptoms began.  This assists us to let staff who may have been working with your child know that they may require a PCR test.
 
 
 
Children should return in winter uniform after half-term.  You can find full details of the school uniform on our school web site.
 
Winter uniform
  •          Bottle green V neck jumper/cardigan (with emblem or plain).
  •          White shirt
  •          Long grey tailored trousers or grey skirt/tunic.  Girls trousers should be of the same tailored style as boys trousers.  If in doubt please check with Mrs Fowler or Ms Coombridge.
  •          School tie
  •          Coat/Anorak
  •          Long/short grey or white socks
  •          Bottle green or grey tights.
  •          Flat black/brown school shoes (no trainers)
 
 
 
Don't forget to order school lunches online before children return to school on Monday 1st November 2021.
 
 
 
This week has been a whirlwind of a week!  Thank you to everyone for being so adaptable and supportive of the school throughout the last few days.  We will be able to share the OFSTED report with you in about six weeks time.
 
Parent teacher interviews will take place virtually on Wednesday 3rd November.  We will run with the same timetable as the 20th October.  If you need to make a change please go onto the timetable on your class team and change into an empty slot.  The timetable document cannot be accessed on a phone but can be edited on a computer, tablet or iPad.  If the 3rd November is not suitable please email your class email. Teachers will respond after the half-term break
 
Thank you also to the PTA for allocating some funds to add further books to our school reading scheme as well as funding an extra ten hours to add to the schools allocation of Educational Psychologist hours.  Both of these gifts will have an enormous impact on the learning of children across the school.
