Welcome back to the Spring Term. It has been wonderful to see all of the children's smiling faces and laughter over the last week.
Owls have been creating pieces of art in the forest as part of our inventors unit. We challenged the children to create something which would impress everyone. The groups chose to make: a football stadium, a house, a barrier, some trees and a ‘hello sign’. We were so impressed with the teamwork!
Well done Owls!
Parents of children in Year 3 and 4
On Friday 4th February at 9:00 am and 3:30 pm there will be a Sayers Croft parent meeting in the school hall. We hope to see all Owls' and Swans' parents at one of the meetings. If you are unable to attend, the powerpoint with key information will be available after the meeting.
Platinum Jubilee
Over the next few weeks you will hear more about the schools' Platinum Jubilee Celebration. As part of our celebration we would like to decorate the school with acts of service!
We have introduced the children to the idea that for every significant act of service they do to make the world a better place they can decorate a piece of bunting that we will hang up during the celebration. Class teachers have the bunting and resources for decorating the bunting. There will be some whole class acts of service but children can complete an act of service at home and bring a note in from home for the class teacher to allocate a piece of bunting to the child.
Each act of service needs to be significant for the child and involve giving up at least an hour of their time. I am sure you and the children will be able to come up with lots of ideas for acts of service. Some ideas that we have thought of are; they could spend time litter picking; they could raise money for a charity; they could buy and plant a tree.
Please do encourage your children to think of ways they could help others or the environment so that we can cover the school with bunting!
We are looking forward to being able to welcome parents back on site over the next few weeks.
Friday assemblies will move to in-person assemblies from this week. Parents who wish to attend should be seated in the school hall by 2.35 pm. Friday 28th January will be open to Robins' class parents only.
Parents are also welcome to visit classrooms when dropping off children each Friday, beginning this week. The classrooms are open for parents between 8.30 am and 8.45 am. We commence lessons at 8.50 am each morning.
The scheduled Monday morning parent coffee morning will also move to in-person in the school hall; commencing Monday 31st January. It will run from 9.00 am to 10. 00 am every two weeks. The evening zoom catch up on alternate weeks will stay in place on zoom for now.
Victorian Dress Up Day
On Friday 28th January the children will be learning about life during the Victorian era and may come to school dressed in Victorian style clothing.
The assembly at 2:40 pm will be specifically for parents of children in the Robins class. The children in Robins will be presenting a short play about the life of children in Victorian times.
