Celebrating 175 Years of Royal School History

Royal School 175 Planning Group

175 Years ago HM Queen Victoria decided that there was a need for a school in The Park to educate the children of those in her service.  This year in July we will celebrate that event.  I hope that the celebration will include a Victorian open day at school, a concert, a church service, and a Victorian-themed family fair.   Judith Weir CBE who is the Master of the Queen’s music has agreed to write a piece of music for the school, and it will be performed over the celebration weekend.  I also hope that we can perhaps fundraise during this event to support a charity that is associated with ensuring children have access to an education.

For all of this to happen, we need some volunteers to help with the planning and steering of the events.  If you are willing to help as part of the planning group, please let the school office know immediately.  The first meeting of the group will be Wednesday 10th October at 6.30pm.  I am hoping that this group will include a range of people associated with the school, parents, staff, Governors, Old Scholars and past parents.
