Teaching and Learning

Our curriculum is well-balanced, imaginative and motivational. We adhere to the guidelines provided by the National Curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy which is enriched with a variety of wider curricular experiences and opportunities for learning.

The curriculum is delivered using a variety of approaches and teaching methods as deemed appropriate to the subject matter and the needs of the children. Whole class, smaller group and individual teaching are all employed. Learning must be exciting and fun. ICT is exploited as a tool to develop understanding even further. The environment at The Royal School is creative, stimulating and empowers the learner to find out more for themselves. We celebrate hard work and the children are well focussed and keen to achieve. High expectations lead to high standards.

Children are treated as special individuals receiving the direction and support they need in order to reach their goals and celebrate their successes. We encourage our pupils to engage in their learning. They are involved in setting targets and evaluating their work alongside their peers. A range of teaching and learning styles are adopted and the progress of individual children is tracked and monitored closely.
